Employees at a Leading Provider for Retirement Plan Administration Solutions Halt Operations to Give Back at Various Local Food Banks Across the Nation
Charlottesville, VA – December 10, 2024 – Blue Ridge Associates, a trusted partner for retirement plan professionals and sponsors headquartered in Charlottesville, Virginia, had 106 team members participate in the National Day of Giving, also known as “Giving Tuesday”. Employees volunteered at various food banks in 9 cities across the nation and multiple other remote locations, including Feeding America Wisconsin, Hope Atlanta, Feed My Starving Children in Illinois and Minnesota, and many others. Together they donated a total of 424 hours to the fight against hunger, wholly paid for and sponsored by the company.
“While we work hard every day to fulfill our vision of seeing more people achieve financial independence, not everyone is that fortunate. We all live in communities where people are in need,” said Mark Agustin, President at Blue Ridge Associates. “We want to make a difference – and the National Day of Giving is a small reflection of our commitment to social responsibility and community engagement.”
Philanthropy is a shared value across the organization, led by the company’s Charitable Action Committee (CAC). The CAC raises money and sponsors various events throughout the year to give Blue Ridge employees the opportunity to make a local impact while connecting with their colleagues. The National Day of Giving is one of two annual give-back days sponsored by the company.
“When you stop what you’re doing for the day to volunteer with your colleagues in meaningful work, it makes an impact, inspires gratitude and strengthens our connections to the community and each other,” says Bill Yoerger, Chief Executive Officer at Blue Ridge. “Ultimately, you come back to work as better, more productive people – and it’s just the right thing to do.”
The National Day of Giving, or Giving Tuesday, is celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and is meant to encourage people to prioritize giving over consumerism and to help those in need.
